What our clients are saying -
The first time I went to Wilkens Chiropractic, it was for pain in my right shoulder that kept me from swimming. I had experienced the same problem a couple of years earlier, used massage and acupuncture, but only got relief after weeks of rest. With three ART treatments, Kym returned my shoulder to normal pain-free function and I was able to resume swimming.
That was my first experience with ART, so when my IT band flared up after running the Sedona Half Marathon, I went back to Kym. I’d had IT problems from time to time in the past that kept me from running or cycling for weeks at a time. So, my expectations were low that ART would provide quick relief. I was very surprised and incredibly grateful when, after one treatment, my IT pain was gone and I was able to resume my normal training schedule.
The ART I received for my IT band was only part of the
overall benefit I gained. Kym not only
treats the condition, but is able to explain what she is doing and why it is
necessary in a way that, I believe, arms me with information I can use to
prevent further injury or, at least, to recognize very early when an injury is
occurring.
Because I’ve been an athlete for 30 years, I’ve had quite a
bit of experience with physical therapy and traditional chiropractic care. Kym’s knowledge, level of care and ability to
yield results is beyond anyone I’ve worked with.
Kym and ART are now a regular component of my training plan. As an active athlete who does not believe that aging means slowing down, I rely on Kym’s expertise to keep me moving. -- Robin Blankenbaker
...Ran 21 miles today and my knee/leg felt awesome! The best it has felt in a while. Yippee! So grateful to you! -- Joy
Thanks for helping me beat my previous PR in an Ironman by 1 hour and 21 minutes! I even beat my goal time for the race. -- D Bednar
Thanks. Had a great run today. My stride feels more relaxed than I can ever remember. Woo hoo! -- Brandon
Dr Kym Wilkens is very skilled, knowledgable, caring and patient. She listens to you and works with you rather than jumping to a conclusion. She is willing to adjust her approach and therapy depending on how you respond. I spent 18mnths with significant pain and disability that countless visits to numerous physicians and therapists provided little benefit. Dr. Wilkens was able to get to the root of the problem and through Active Release Techniques (ART) gradually restored function and relieved my pain. I now have my life back! -- Dr. J Finney
I wanted to thank you for
the chiropractic adjustments and Active
Release Techniques (ART) that you have performed on my back,
hips, and legs. I hurt my back playing tennis 32 years ago and thought that
immobility and pain in my low back would always be part of my life. In just 5
treatments, my back is more mobile than it has been in 30 years, and the pain
is gone most of the time. I've always considered myself to be a good athlete,
but did not realize the extent to which my low back problems were hindering my
performance. Running now is easy and fun. I feel fluid and my stride length has
increased. On my normal training runs, my times are faster at a lower perceived
effort. I'm really looking forward to my next race. Thanks for
everything! --- Brandon Cruickshank
Before I saw you I was having such terrible
shoulder pain and was increasingly worried about my upcoming swimming race.
But after just one treatment I felt so much better and experienced an
incredible increase in my range of motion! I finished my race strong and
am tremendously comforted knowing that I don't have to endure pain while i'm
training. Thank you so very much! Merk
Dr. Kymberlee Wilkens of
Wilkens Chiropractic in Flagstaff is a true professional in every sense of the
word. She is especially skilled in her craft, and also creates an
extremely comfortable atmosphere. She does this with her warm personality that
will put your mind in the relaxed state that is necessary for the body work to
be effective. Her chiropractic technique is a forward thinking process that
goes to the source of the problem far beyond the typical back cracking that has
been the standard calling card of the profession. Dr. Wilkens is certified in
Active Release Techniques® (ART) which focuses on soft tissue work. It has
been extremely effective in the treatment that I have received from her. I
highly recommend that anyone dealing with any type of physical malady stop by
Wilkens Chiropractic ASAP. Fasil Bizuneh ~ 2010 US 10

Hey Kym, Just wanted to let
you know that what you did seems to have helped, especially in my glute area.
It's like a brutal tension has been slightly relaxed. I can't wait to see you
again! Good luck in your half-marathon, I hope your hip does OK and you do
great. -- Best, Rayonna L
I was absolutely thrilled
to discover Wilkens Chiropractic as an Active Release Technique provider
in Flagstaff. Five months ago, after running the marathon, I had
accumulated a lot of microtissue damage from the race and was struggling to
resume training pain-free. In my first few visits with Dr. Kym, she was keen in
identifying the sources of my overuse injuries and used ART massage
to help relieve the pain and encourage the body’s natural healing process. It
might be anunderstatement to say that ART is uncomfortable at times,
but it is extremely effective in relieving muscular tension while promoting
healthy muscle tissue restoration and improved range of motion. Overall, I
was very impressed with her professionalism, knowledge of the musculoskeletal
system and her level of compassion - injured athletes are not easy to deal
with! Her ART and chiropractic treatments are by far the most
comprehensive therapies I have everreceived. In the past 5 months, I have
continued to see Kym for chiropractic “tune-ups” and ART treatment to
help reduce soreness and aid in recovery after running races and hard workouts.
I feel I am able to get more out of my body in training and racing by
integrating these therapies into my routine. I would highly recommend
chiropractic care and ART for anyone wanting to be and remain active
without being sidelined by aches and pains. So thank you Kym and Chris for
keeping me running strong and healthy; I could not be in better hands! --
